Join WIMA and The Grammys for Advocacy

WIMA and The Grammys

Last night Sandy Kastel and WIMA joined The Recording Academy for Advocacy for Songwriters, Musicians, Producers, Engineers and Music Industry.

The Recording Academy held a mixer and many of Las Vegas' talented Producers, Engineers, Songwriters, Musicians and Singers were in attendance including WIMA Founder Sandy Kastel, Member Carleen Gordon and guests Composer, Singer, Songwriter Darcelle Smith and Jazz Singer Pasquale Elia.

Our discussion was about Advocacy for the Artists that create the music that is written by people for people to enjoy whether it is on their smartphone, TV Show, film or other media form.

I invited WIMA Members and guests to join me for this special event. The reason this was so important to me is that one of my goals when I founded WIMA in 2012 was to bring the Recording Academy here to Las Vegas.

At this intimate mixer we had about 75 guests who met in The Studio hosted by Zoe Thrall. This is the same place I recorded "Santa Baby" in 2010, which is released each Christmas on radio stations around the world.

Last night our WIMA Members and guests made new contacts in the music industry, some of which may develop into new co-writing, recording, producing and partnering opportunities.

In addition we came together to learn about the upcoming opportunity October 14th to meet with Dina Titus for the Grammys in the District and a chance to speak out about what our needs are as performers, songwriters, musicians, engineers and producers.

In October we will have three meetings: North Las Vegas, Henderson and Las Vegas.

Zoe Thrall from The Studio at the Palms will be heading up our meeting for 1st District with Dina Titus. The other two meetings will be lead by Bobby Ferrari of Odds On Recording 10th District in Henderson with Denny Heck and by Al Ketter of Ketter Entertainment Group 4th District in North Las Vegas with Cresent Hardy.

WIMA is going to also be representing artists in the music industry at the October 14th Grammys in District and at Grammys on the Hill in Washington, DC April 13th & 14th.

If you are in the music industry and want your voice to be heard join WIMA www.WIMAFoundation.org/donate and become a part of the solution.

Copyrights are one of the biggest issues for songwriters. As writers we are creating the music that is on the radio, online, in TV shows, films and other media.

If we asked a plumber to come to our house to fix the leaking faucet, do you think he would do it for free? Is any other profession asked to work for free? No. So why are songwriters expected to "give away their rights" to the songs they created?

This is only one example. What are your needs as a music professional? Join WIMA and The Recording Academy to "LET YOUR VOICE BE HEARD" in the White House.
